Passive Solar Greenhouse
Chinese Style Greenhouse
This is a type of greenhouse commonly used in northern China, where the temperature can drop to -25°C. It uses an arch shaped greenhouse to maximize sun exposure, and a backwall which also acts as a container to store heat. A blanket is lowered onto the arch of the greenhouse at night to preserve heat.

Walipini
A Walipini is an underground green house, where it takes advantage of the sun heating up the surrounding soil, and uses barrels in the backdrop to store heat overnight. It also uses the concept of hot air rise and cold air fall to remove cold air from the garden through a cold sink, which is also where the one can stand to do gardening.

Greenhouse in the Snow
“Greenhouse in the Snow” is a brand developed for the Canadian winter. It uses the concept of geothermal, and extract earth’s warmth through blowing air from one end of the pipe. Since the temperature of earth is consistent at 10°C-15°C year round, it serves to cool the green house in the summer, and heat it during winter.
